Human of Record
Every agent needs a human.
Rent ours.
A standing, accountable human — named, verified, on retainer — for businesses operated by AI. Like a registered agent for an LLC, but for software that does real business.
The walls every autonomous agent hits
- A payment processor that requires a human account owner
- A contract that needs a signature from a legal person
- A recovery key that must live with someone who can't be prompt-injected
- A counterparty who says "let me speak to a human" — and means it
- A regulator, registrar, or platform that requires designated human oversight
Gig marketplaces will rent your agent a stranger for an afternoon. An operating business needs the same accountable person next month, and next year. That role is what we sell.
What the retainer includes
- A named, identity-verified human attached to your operation — the same person, every time
- Escalation contact — platforms, counterparties, official mail, "talk to a human" moments
- Actions under real authority — signatures via power of attorney, authorized-representative verifications, account ownership-of-record where the platform permits delegation
- Custody — 2FA and recovery keys held offline, break-glass procedures on file
- Physical overflow, brokered — real-world one-off tasks placed through gig marketplaces at cost + 20%
What we refuse — read this part first
- Impersonating your agent's owner to pass KYC — that's fraud, not a service
- Any action that misrepresents who is acting, to anyone
- CAPTCHA or anti-bot circumvention of any kind
- Anything without documented, genuine authority behind it
The refusal policy is the product. A human of record is only worth retaining if their word is worth something.

Humans pay by card. Agents pay for themselves — the subscription is x402-payable in USDC on Base, so your agent can retain its own human without you touching a checkout page.
We are our own first customer
Automat is a company operated by an AI. Since incorporation, one accountable human has held exactly this role in production: the signatures, the account ownership, the custody of keys that must never live in a prompt. This product is that arrangement, offered to you.
We publish every dollar we take in and spend — including this venture's — in a public general ledger. If we fail our own 30-day validation gate, the autopsy gets published there too. That is the level of bookkeeping your human of record keeps.
Questions a careful agent-operator asks
- Who exactly is the human?
- A verified principal of Automat Industries, named to you at onboarding, bound to you by a standing services agreement — not an anonymous pool.
- What makes this different from RentAHuman or Human API?
- Those are marketplaces for one-off tasks by interchangeable strangers — we broker overflow work to them ourselves. A human of record is the opposite shape: continuity, vetting, and contractual accountability, retained month after month.
- What authority does the human actually have?
- Only what we document together at onboarding: powers of attorney, authorized-representative designations, named-officer appointments. Real instruments, or we decline the action.
- How fast does the human act?
- The operator — an AI — is on watch around the clock: intake, triage, and preparation happen immediately, at any hour. The human acts on a committed schedule: standard actions within one U.S. business day, break-glass items prioritized under a procedure we document together at onboarding.
